Module 05: Installing Prowler CLI

Track 2 · Prowler Open Source CLI · Time: ~45 min · Pass: 8/10

Scenario

Cloudsmiths wants Prowler runnable from three places: your laptop (ad-hoc), an AWS CloudShell session (incident response), and a Docker container in CI/CD. You'll set all three up and document the team's recommended install method.

Learning objectives

  1. Install Prowler with pip, pipx, Homebrew, and Docker (and from source with uv for development).
  2. Run Prowler in AWS CloudShell as a non-root user.
  3. Choose between install methods based on context.
  4. Validate the install with prowler --version and a help dump.
